Joel and Ellie
Call me crazy, but even though Joel and Ellie were years apart, they had one of the best relationships I had ever seen in a video game, and yes it was based on strong and mutual friendship, one that is quite rare to find these days. Over the course of the game, Joel and Ellie come to care for each other, they have their fights, they cry, they watch each other’s backs and they share some good humor with each other. The climax of the game has Joel realizing how much he cares for Ellie- enough that he is willing to throw away the world, just as long as he can keep her. It’s a beautiful game, and a beautiful relationship.
