NBA 2K17 PC Errors and Fixes- Low Framerate, Stuttering Audio, DLL Errors, And More

The openness of the PC platform is what makes it so appealing to millions and millions of users worldwide- but at the same time, it also means that there are more opportunities for something to go wrong, more chances for things to stop working unexpectedly. This happens with most major PC releases- and the release of the new NBA 2K17 is no different in that regard.

There are a fair few errors and problems with the PC version of NBA 2K17, which can impede with your enjoyment of the game. The best thing to do is to resolve them as soon as possible, so you can get back to some action on the court. That’s where we come in with this guide- with this guide, we list out the most common errors PC players are experiencing with this game, as well as some suggested fixes.

But first, the required specs:

MINIMUM:

    • OS: Windows 7 64-bit, Windows 8.1 64-bit or Windows 10 64-bit
    • Processor: Intel® Core™ i3-530 @ 2.93 GHz / AMD Phenom™ II X4 805 @ 2.50 GHz or better
    • Memory: 4 GB RAM
    • Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 430 1GB / ATI® Radeon™ HD 6450 1GB or better
    • DirectX: Version 11
    • Storage: 70 GB available space
    • Sound Card: DirectX 9.0x compatible

RECOMMENDED:

    • OS: Windows 7 64-bit, Windows 8.1 64-bit or Windows 10 64-bit
    • Processor: Intel® Core™ i5-4430 @ 3 GHz / AMD FX-8370 @ 3.4 GHz or better
    • Memory: 8 GB RAM
    • Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 770 2GB / ATI® Radeon™ R9 270 2GB or better
    • DirectX: Version 11
    • Storage: 70 GB available space
    • Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card

Please be advised that the following methods are to be used at the sole discretion of the system owner. GamingBolt or its staff members take no responsibility for problems that may arise or issues that may occur from trying the below. LOW FRAMERATE:

  • Make sure your drivers for your GPU are updated
  • Open up the Task Manager, go to the Processes tab, and right click on NBA 2K17 to set it to High Priority
  • Shut down any background tasks and programs you may have open, including overlays, video recorders, anti virus programs, and the like
  • Nvidia Users Only: Go to to Nvidia Control Panel, and in the Manage 3D settings, set the power management mode to “Prefer Maximum Performance”

FAILED TO CONTACT KEY SERVER:

  • In the Steam directory, go to the NBA 2K17 folder, and create a new Notepad file named steam_appid. Add 385760 into the file and save changes.

LAG DURING ONLINE MULTIPLAYER:

  • Switch to wired Ethernet over Wifi
  • Open up the Task Manager, go to the Processes tab, and right click on NBA 2K17 to set it to High Priority
  • Shut down any background tasks and programs you may have open, including overlays, video recorders, anti virus programs, and the like
  • Turn off V-Sync and Frame Buffering
  • Run the game in Windowed mode

STUTTERING AUDIO AND VIDEO:

  • Go the Nvidia Control Panel, add NBA 2K17 to your Program Settings Items List, and change the default settings for the game to the following:
    • Power Management Mode: Prefer Maximum Performance
    • Triple Buffering: On
    • Vertical Sync: On

DLL ERRORS

  • The fix is to use the DLL Files Fixer
  • Make sure you note the specific DLL file noted in the DLL error message that the game generates
  • Input that file name into the DLL File Fixer when it is running, and the tool should install the file for you afresh, meaning you now no longer have to worry about DLL errors.

Note: Given that the wide range of PC hardware out there, the fixes mentioned here may or may not work for you. But it’s worth giving them a shot since these have worked for players who own the PC version of NBA 2K17.
