Netflix Clarifies That It Is Still Looking Into Bringing An App To Nintendo Switch

Will they, won't they

Netflix

Earlier today, we reported that Netflix may not be coming to the Nintendo Switch for the time being; this was based on a tweet, since deleted, made by a customer service representative for the company, and at the time, we cautioned that customer service reps are neither privy to, nor authorized to share, internal R&D at a company like Netflix, so it may not be entirely accurate.

And indeed, after deleting the tweet, Netflix has confirmed to Polygon that it is still “exploring” bringing an app to the Switch. Now, there’s another important angle here- the clarified response says nothing the older tweet didn’t. We still don’t have a Netflix app on Switch, nor an ETA- but it changes the context from “it’s not coming for now” to “we’re considering bringing it over”. I suppose that reframing matters.

For now, the Switch continues to remain a machine that plays games, and- well, yeah, that’s it.
