Ubisoft have revealed Assassin’s Creed 4 at their financial conference. Yves Guillemot has mentioned that the game is set in a new time period and features a new hero.

This information isn’t surprising at all considering they have been releasing a new Assassin’s Creed game every year, and last year it was a refresh in the series after releasing two spin-offs.

We are not sure whether this will be related to Assassin’s Creed 3 or not but the game did have a weird ending, so it could be possible. However, the mention of a new hero, and a new time period, reveals that it could be a new mainline game.

Sony and Microsoft’s next gen consoles are confirmed to be announced this year and most rumors point at a 2013 release, so this could mean the game could be a cross gen title releasing on the current gen and future gen platforms.
