FIFA 14 may not have been a revelation for the series like some previous entries have been, but that was to be expected when the series is caught up in the generational transition. However, it is certainly a more enhanced experience on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles than it is on current gen machines, and the video above demonstrates exactly how.
The biggest change is one that finally addresses a long running, almost joke of a, complaint: the crowds, which until now have been glorified, static 2D cutouts. The Xbox One and PS4 versions of FIFA feature full 3D crowds, that react realistically to what hapens in the game, with the camera itself often panning to show you crowd reactions. The fans and crowds are a big part of the football experience, so it’s nice to see EA actually focus on it for a change.
Another change is in EA’s faithful recreation of the stadiums in game: some of these stadiums and arenas are iconic at this point, and they enhance the football atmosphere already present in this game in spades.
FIFA 14 launched on PS4 last Friday, and launches on Xbox One this Friday. Stay tuned for more coverage.
