New GTA V ‘Governor Campaign’ Videos Try Too Hard To Be Funny

Subtle satire is GTA's forte. Except this isn't all that subtle.

The Grand Theft Auto series of video games are as well appreciated for their subtle satire and biting commentary on the state of American culture and society as they are for their revolutionary gameplay. Of course, the games are also over the top, and their satire can be similarly over the top and blatant sometimes, but I just can’t help but shake my head in disappointment at the newest videos released for the game.

These videos are mock election videos for the Governor of San Andreas, and they’re way too blatant; not only are they not subtle, but they seem to be almost trying too hard to parody the state of American electoral politics, almost coming off as a bit juvenile in the process.

I have no doubt that Grand Theft Auto V will be a hell of a game; I just hope that it retains its sophisticated sense of humor too.

Anyway, the game launches in a month on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for our coverage.
