New Ryse Trailer Shows Off Game’s Story and CryEngine Technology

This trailer should go a long way towards convincing you.

Ryse: Son of Rome has been the subject of some ridicule since its unveiling, because of its limited interactivity, and its focus on shallow presentation and graphical finesse, but the newest trailer does at least a halfway decent job of selling the game to even hardened skeptics.

The three minute long trailer with a voiceover narration talks about the premise and setting for the game, before switching gears to talk about the CryEngine powering the game, along with the motion capture process and research that went into recreating its ancient Roman setting and making sure it all feels as authentic as possible.

Personally, the animations still seem off to me, and I can’t say I’m a fan of the kind of game this title is trying to be (see also: my distaste for David Cage games), but at least the premise looks interesting.

Ryse: Son of Rome will be an Xbox One launch title. Stay tuned for more coverage.
