Fresh off the unveiling of SoulCalibur 6 at last nights The Game Awards 2017, Bandai Namco has released more details about the premier weapons based fighting game, feeding the legions of fans who’s souls were burning for information.

As the trailer shown during last night event, the game will of course retain a similar style to prior titles in the Soulcalibur series, the famous 8-way run system, weapons, ring outs, but new to SoulCalibur 6 is what the developers are calling the Reversal Edge, which will see characters clash against each other based on their actions. They didn’t outline it much beyond that but it sounds like a natural evolution to make the game feel more like you’re fighting with sharp blades instead of just beating each other around with various blunt sticks.

Furthermore, the story will thankfully take place in the 16th century, dropping those years of cannon that dragged down SoulCalibur 5 to return to the events of the original SoulCalibur and uncover “hidden truths”. New characters will feature alongside mainstays, like two we saw confirmed in the trailer tonight, Mitsurugi and Sophitia. Stick to Gamingbolt to hear about all the revelations about SoulCalibur VI as they happen.
