Unreal Tournament is going to be a return to the series that made Epic Games what it is today, the series that even gives Epic’s current bread and butter, their flagship middleware game development engine, its name. Epic showed it off to us a few months ago, but it was a prototype, and it showed.
Now, in its newest form, Epic are showing us a game with textures there, weapons implemented, a couple of levels are up and running and perhaps most importantly, deathmatch working.
“We have a game now, which is awesome,” notes senior designer Jim Brown in the video that is embedded above.
Unreal Tournament will be out on PC some time later this year. It will also be made available on Mac OS X and Linux, and it will have a unique development cycle in that it will be crowdsourced and open to contributions from anyone. Stay tuned.
