To avoid any server congestions over the Holiday period, Nintendo says setting up consoles ahead of that will probably be the smart thing to do.

With the Holiday season already here, many people will unsurprisingly be getting Nintendo Switch consoles as gifts during the coming weeks. Ahead of that, Nintendo has advised fans in a recent Twitter post in Japanese to set up consoles before Christmas in order to avoid any hassles.

Of course, it’s no secret that a ton of people will log on to Nintendo’s console and eShop servers on Christmas, and as such, it wouldn’t be unlikely if the servers go down for extended periods of time- which, incidentally, Nintendo says is very much a possibility. As such, it’s best to set up the console and purchase or download any games you want before any such outage happens.

Nintendo also followed it up with a link having detailed instructions on how to set the console up. Interestingly, Xbox’s Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb has also advised the same for future Xbox owners, also through a recent Twitter post.

2021 has been a fruitful year for Nintendo, with its revised Switch OLED model and stellar exclusives such as Metroid Dread driving lifetime Switch sales to an impressive 92 million mark, and counting.
