Nintendo Already In Talks For Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Apps On Switch

The gaming focused machine will get some non gaming focused functionality soon.

The Nintendo Switch launched without any media functionality whatsoever, a bit of a waste considering its tablet form factor would make it perfect for these kinds of apps. Nintendo claims that it did so because the Switch is meant to be a focused gaming machine- however, it is rather likely that the system just needed to be rushed to market, and ended up missing such features.

This theory gains credence when you consider that an interview with the Washington Post, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime confirmed that Nintendo is already in negotiations to get these apps on the system. “We’re talking to a range of companies about other services, companies like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon — things that will come in time,” he said.

So there we are- hopefully by the end of this year, we can watch Stranger Things on our Switch between sessions of Splatoon 2 with our friends. That would be nice.
