Nintendo Announces Hyrule Warriors, a Dynasty Warriors Spin Off For Zelda

The hell?

Posted By | On 18th, Dec. 2013

One of the biggest and oddest announcements that came out of Nintendo Direct today was Hyrule Warriors, a new Zelda game for the Wii U (but not the Zelda game for the Wii U) that is… Dynasty Warriors in Zelda skin. No, seriously.

The game, which is in early stages of development, looks pretty good, with Link cutting down hordes of Zelda enemies in what looks like it might be the most fun take on the Zelda combat formula for a while, and taking on gigantic monsters (Zelda bosses).

Of course, graphically, it just looks… bad, like all Dynasty Warriors games tend to do, but there is hope that they may address that ahead of the game’s release some time next year.

Iwata was very sure to clarify that this is not the Zelda Wii U game, so if the idea of a Dynasty Warriors/Zelda mashup turns you off, don’t worry, and just look forward to Zelda U instead.

Hyrule Warriors launches next year on Wii U.
