Nintendo Announcing New “Interactive Experience” For Kids for Nintendo Switch Later Today

Something non traditional, then?

Posted By | On 17th, Jan. 2018

Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima has stressed the importance of selling the Switch to audiences beyond just the traditional gaming ones multiple times- in fact, he has famously stated that that will be key to trying to sell 20 million units that Nintendo is planning on with the Switch this year. But while core gamers have been very well served by Nintendo and third parties on the Switch so far, with more games that promise to continue that, we haven’t seen anything courting expanded audiences just yet.

That may change later today. In two hours, Nintendo is going to announce a “new interactive experience” aimed at “kids, or those who are kids at heart”, for the Nintendo Switch. The phrasing, while making it very clear this is not something for traditional audiences, is nonetheless interesting- it implies something hugely non-traditional.

Whatever it is remains to be seen- but Nintendo sending notice of it ahead of time does indicate it’s something they think has some importance.
