Nintendo have announced a new back to school promotion, which will see some price reductions across their range of hardware and software- although the Wii U still hasn’t seen a further price drop, and probably never will at this point.

As part of this promotion, Nintendo will be offering the New 3DS (the standard, smaller model, not the bigger one) for just $150- and it will come pre-loaded with Super Mario 3D Land, too. 3D Land is one of the best games on the 3DS, so on the whole, you can’t sneeze at this deal.

Nintendo have also added more games to their Nintendo Selects line of discounted games, from both 3DS and Wii U, with all these games seeing their prices drop to $20 permanently:

3DS:
Animal Corssing: New Leaf
Lego City: Undercover
Tomodachi Life
Nintendogs+Cats
Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon

Wii U:
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD
Nintendo Land
Lego City: Undercover

“These back-to-school deals are some of the best and most varied we have ever offered,” Nintendo marketing executive Doug Bowser, said in a statement. “Now is clearly the best time to get started on your essential Nintendo game collection.”

On the whole, that looks like a good price drop to me all around, with some long needed price cuts for games, and with the 3DS finally being priced more reasonably after holding steady at $200 for years now. The 3DS, at least, remains one of the best systems you can buy for yourself even now, so if you don’t have one already, now is as good a time as any to spring on one.
