While the Nintendo Switch is still topping sales charts around the world on a consistent basis, many are naturally looking forward to what’s next in store. As revealed in a management briefing following the company’s latest financial report (via analyst David Gibson on Twitter), Nintendo is still figuring out the concept and release window for its next console.
During a Q&A session, the company revealed that active development is still being done for the successor to the Switch. It was revealed that the company hasn’t yet decided on the concept for the next console, and there’s still no confirmation for a release timing either. Nintendo is still expecting growth in Switch’s sales, courtesy of the updated OLED model and upcoming exclusives for the platform, and as such, the company still has a fair bit of time before it needs to switch its gears to the next platform.
With PS5 and Xbox Series X already nearing their first anniversaries, it’s understandable that investors and fans are both looking forward to the next console from Nintendo- more so with rumors of an updated 4K console running rampant for some time now. Of course, given this new update on the matter, it’s best that fans keep their expectations in check for now.
A: On next gen, we are not saying right now, we are still going through internal discussion on concept, timing etc and discussing everything 3)
