While everything about the NX is a complete and total mystery, one of the many things that Nintendo fans like to speculate about is just how Nintendo will choose to reveal their mystery new platform- will it be done via a live event, as is traditionally done? Or will they host a Nintendo Direct (or a Digital Event) instead? Might they ditch both those alternatives, and do something entirely new instead?
An interview that GameSkinny recently had with a Nintendo of Canada rep seems to suggest that Nintendo may be unveiling their new system via a Nintendo Direct. In this interview, which has since been redacted, Nintendo of Canada communications manager Andrew Collins indicated that the NX’s announcement may happen via a Nintendo Direct.
‘Nintendo is not ready to discuss [the NX] yet,’ he said. ‘Once we are, Nintendo will most likely hold a Nintendo Direct in the future – before launch – to discuss it.’
The damning bit of evidence here is that this specific quote was then redacted by the website upon Nintendo of Canada’s request- you can check out Nintendo Life for snapshots of what the webpage looked like before the redaction, and what it looks like now.
So- when the NX will be announced is anybody’s guess, but at least it seems like we know how it will be announced now: via a Nintendo Direct.
