With each passing day, we hear more and more about the Nintendo NX, and just what Nintendo may have planned for their upcoming mysterious device. The newest report comes to us courtesy of Let’s Play Video Games (corroborated by Nintendo Life and Nintendo insider Emily Rogers, via NeoGAF), who previously also leaked the device’s motion and haptic functionality.

The report states that the NX is going to eschew the solid + style D-pad that Nintendo have used ever since the original Game and Watch, over 30 years ago, to a Sony style ‘split’ D-pad design; it also indicates that the NX will have a PS4 style ‘share’ button (which may be called the ‘Social’ button, and will be denoted by a camera icon), which will allow users to upload screenshots and short images to Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Miiverse.

Both of these were leaked by a dev kit unit- in general, all sources are pretty sure on the Share button making it in on the final manufacturing unit, though they don’t seem to be as sure on the D-pad. Still, this is yet more proof that Nintendo have been paying attention to market trends, and that they plan on responding to them with the NX- overall good news, because them being insular is what led to the Wii U being as much of a failure as it turned out to be.
