Nintendo on Wii U: “We will yet again disrupt the market”

Posted By | On 18th, Nov. 2011

Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America president and COO, says that, if they get things done right with the Wii U, they will once again disrupt the market like they did with the DS and Wii before.  “The Wii U has to deliver a differentiated experience that can only be brought to bear through the use of these two screens,” he said in an in interview with Games Blog.

“If all we do is a beautiful game in HD, it’s been done before. We have to take advantage of the second screen, we need to take advantage of the connectivity that the system will offer.”

Nintendo’s no stranger to doing bizarre yet interesting stuff with their systems. Five years ago, everybody would have laughed their heads off at the idea of proper motion controls based gaming, a handheld system with two screens and a touch screen.

“We believe that we will yet again disrupt the market the same way we did with DS and Wii,” Fils-Aime concluded.

Well, Nintendo just needs to make sure the system has enough third party support, because we sure don’t want a repeat of the Wii. Tell us what you think in your comments.
