Leaks have insisted for several months now that the Nintendo Switch 2 (or whatever Nintendo’s unannounced next-gen console ends up being called) is going to launch sometime in the second half of 2024, but it seems plans have internally changed at Nintendo, with multiple credible sources now claiming that the console’s launch has been delayed by a few months.

A recently published VGC report says the Switch’s successor is now set to launch in Q1 of 2025, something that Eurogamer corroborates, with Nintendo allegedly recently having informed third-party partners that the console’s release has been pushed back. As per both outlets, the delay was made to ensure that the console launches with a stronger first party lineup.

Prominent insider NateTheHate, who previously stated that the console was set to be announced in March, has said on Twitter that he has heard the same about its release being pushed back, but is unsure for now what that means for Nintendo’s announcement plans.

Meanwhile, on the O X do Controle podcast, Felipe Lima, editor-in-chief of Brazilian outlet Universo Nintendo, has claimed that Nintendo still has a few unannounced titles lined up for release on the current Switch hardware, though they’re expected to be smaller titles.

Currently, the first-party titles officially confirmed to be releasing for Switch in 2024 are Princess Peach: Showtime!, Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD, and a remake of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.
