The Nintendo Switch had been selling really well in  Japan throughout the last few days of the 2017. At the start of the new year, both the Switch and the games available for it continue selling exceptionally well according t the latest weekly sales charts released by Media Create. Along with the Switch, the PS4 is also off to a good start for the year, being the second highest sold console in this period between January 1st and 7th.

In this given week, the Switch sold a total of 146,006 units while the PS4 sold 75,344 units. As the Switch is still a relatively new console, it’s understandable why it continues to sell so well. The best selling games are also Switch titles with Splatoon 2 having sold 117,840 units and Super Mario Odyssey having sold 110,816 units. The Switch has now officially sold more than 3.5 million units in Japan.

All in all, it has been a great way to start the year for both the Switch and PS4 in Japan. It remains to be seen if any newer Switch title will be able to overtake Splatoon 2 as it will likely remain the best selling title on the console for some time.
