One of the big issues that we have with the Nintendo Switch as it exists right now is the total lack of game saves management- not only are cloud features, which are standard on all other platforms, missing, but even local save file management, which the 3DS has had for four years at this point, is gone too.
However, Nintendo of America’s President Reggie-Fils-Aime seems to be hinting that cloud saves could be coming to the system some time soon. When asked about cloud save backup functionality on the Switch, Fils-Aime said, ‘Wouldn’t that be wonderful? Stay tuned,’ in a recent Facebook interview with tech expert and TV host, Katie Linendoll.
Hopefully this means this is something Nintendo is planning on introducing and implementing soon- the good news is that Switch games no longer save to carts, so introducing this functionality shouldn’t be all that difficult. Maybe Nintendo can have this feature in ahead of the introduction of their planned online service.
