We had recently reported about the great sales enjoyed by the Nintendo Switch as well as the games available on the console such as Super Mario Odyssey. According to this week’s sales charts (December 11-17) for the Japanese market released by Media Create, it doesn’t seem like sales are slowing down anytime soon for either the console or the games.

In just this week, Super Mario Odyssey has sold 133,180 copies. Overall, the game has sold over a million copies in Japan. More significantly, the Switch has sold 221,210 units in the week. This is a significant sales number for a gaming console which means that the Nintendo Switch sales will soon exceed 3 million units soon as it has already sold 2,908,416 units in Japan.

Older titles on the console such as Splatoon 2 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe also continue to sell well, most likely due to the increased sales of the hardware itself. As it is the holiday season, we can expect sales to continue increasing dramatically for a short while.
