Nintendo Switch Insider: 3D Mario Platformer And Mario Rabbids RPG Are Two Different Games

Two Mario games at launch!

Earlier this week, we reported on the total and utter ‘WTF’ that was the new Mario and Rabbids crossover RPG that is apparently in the works for a Nintendo Switch launch. However, this prompted fears among many, and understandably, that the Mario game that we were hearing was set for launch in Zelda‘s stead would be this RPG.

Now, nothing against this RPG, of course, it could turn out to be great- but it wouldn’t be the same as having a true new 3D Mario platformer (especially when the platformer being promised seems to be a return to the vaunted Mario 64 style). Which is why, it comes as a relief that Laura Dale, leaker and insider on all things Nintendo Switch, has confirmed that the 3D Mario game and the RPG are two separate titles- one being present at launch does not mean that the other won’t be.

What does that mean? In simple terms, it means that Mario 3D and Mario RPG could both be available at the Switch launch. In addition to SplatoonSkyrim, and whatever other titles Nintendo has planned. That would be a good launch.
