Nintendo Switch is Now the Fastest Selling System of All Time in Canada

Add another one to the list.

The Nintendo Switch has been breaking sales records left, right, and center since it launched- it is currently the fastest selling system of all time in USA, Italy, Spain, France, faster selling than Wii in Germany, and it has sold faster than the PS2 in Japan. Now, there’s another one to add to the list- Canada.

Nintendo confirmed today that the Switch is the fastest selling system of all time in Canada over the first ten months that the system has been on the market. The previous record holder was Nintendo’s own Wii.

The Switch’s performance in Canada is especially notable, because the system is extremely expensive here- it costs $400, with games costing $80, and accessories going over $100 in some cases. The success of the Switch demonstrates just how much Canadians have taken to Nintendo’s new portable home console.

With the Switch getting multiple major new releases this year, including Dark Souls, Bayonetta, Kirby, Fire Emblem, Yoshi, Wolfenstein, Donkey Kong, Mario Tennis, Hyrule Warriors, Dragon Quest, and Octopath, not to mention the Labo, it remains to be seen how well Nintendo can build on this momentum going forward.
