Today is the day that we finally get all the official information that we have been missing so far on the Nintendo Switch. Nintendo’s incredibly exciting upcoming system has everyone intrigued, and this is Nintendo’s chance to sell everyone on it once and for all. But that said, it looks like known Nintendo insider Emily Rogers couldn’t resist getting one last bunch of leaks and predictions in for the event.
Speaking on Twitter, she reiterated that Mario Kart for the Switch is going to be a port of Mario Kart 8 on the Wii U, but with 16 new tracks, new characters, and of course, the addition of the Battle Mode. This alone will make it the best Mario Kart game we have had to date.
Speaking of Wii U ports, Rogers also admitted that one of the games she had thought was a Wii U port is in fact going to be an altogether brand new game. She didn’t say which one, but common sense dictates that it will either be Splatoon or Super Mario Maker (although the latter may not even be coming to the system, now that I think about it).
Rogers also weighed in on Skyrim for Switch- while she does think it is coming, she personally does not think that it will be a day one game. That said, she also concedes that it could happen anyway- she just personally does not think that it will.
The Nintendo Switch event is going to be held later today. It will debut the system’s specs, lineup, pricing, and release date.
Very skeptical about that rumor of Skyrim being a day 1 Switch title.
It's not impossible but I really doubt it.— Emily Rogers (@ArcadeGirl64) January 12, 2017
@ArcadeGirl64 Update: My Mario Kart report remains unchanged. It's a port with a ton of new tracks + new characters + New battle mode.

No…one of the previously rumored Wii U ports for Switch is not a port. Mario Kart is a port though. https://t.co/RdOiE94V7U

At least 16 new tracks for MK8 port. There might be more but I'm not sure. https://t.co/C0uDWic0E6
