Nintendo Switch Tops Sales Charts in Japan During a Quiet Week

Nintendo’s Switch has topped charts in Japan for another week straight, with 44,000 units sold last week placing it ahead of the PS4, which sold 25,000 units. This was actually in spite of the PS4 getting a multitude of new releases last week, which all managed to do reasonably well.

Topping the software charts was the PS4 version of Super Robot Wars X, which was followed by Far Cry 5 at number 2. Shining Resonance Refrain came in at sixth place, meanwhile. On the other hand, perennial Switch evergreens—Super Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Splatoon 2, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Kirby: Star Allies—all held steady, as did Monster Hunter World and Detective Pikachu.

The coming weeks should prove to be particularly interesting—Nintendo’s Labo launches soon, as does God of War. How will they affect the Japanese sales charts? That remains to be seen, but hopefully the Japanese market continues to thrive!
