The craze around Nintendo’s NFC powered Amiibo figurines seems to know no end. On the heels of the NPD sales figures being released yesterday, the company announced that it has sold 7 million Amiibo toys in the United States alone. Considering that the toys launched less than a year ago, the figure is nothing short of impressive (and as of right now, far eclipses the total number of Wii U consoles sold in the US).

Nintendo for its part continues to launch more and more Amiibos- the original line, based on the new Super Smash Bros. games for Wii U and 3DS, remains the flagship, but Amiibos for Super Mario, Splatoon, Animal Crossing, and most recently, Shovel Knight, have also been released in the months since.

How many Amiibos have you got? How many are you planning to buy? What do you think is the future of Amiibos? Will the NX be one giant Amiibo? At least that would ensure its success, if nothing else.
