For the nine month period ending December 2010 Nintendo’s net profit fell 74 percent from a year earlier to 49.6 billion yen ($599 million). Revenue also declined 32 percent to 808 billion yen ($9.8 billion) in the first three quarters of the company’s current financial year. 13.7 million Wii consoles were sold in the period, down 20 percent from last year. DS sales by comparison fell 33 percent to 15.7 million units. Despite the losses, Nintendo’s future looks bright with the 3DS scheduled to retail March 25,26 and 27 in Europe, Japan and the US.
