Hideo Kojima may no longer be a part of Konami, or get to make any of the projects that he was so personally attached to – Metal Gear, Silent Hill, FOX Engine – but that won’t get him down. On the occasion of his 52nd birthday, he took to Twitter to promise that he would continue being creative in the coming years, and keep creating new things.

With Kojima now exiting Konami, the question of course is exactly what he plans on doing- will he try to make games independently, perhaps going the crowdsourcing route that so many other Japanese creators eventually settle for? Or will he try to find himself a home at a new publisher? Or is it possible that he will ally himself with one of the console manufacturers instead?

We don’t know yet, and no matter what Kojima does, all eyes will be on him. he is one of gaming’s very best minds, so let’s hope he gets the chance to keep his creative juices flowing for a very long time.
