OpCapita purchases GAME, jobs saved

Posted By | On 02nd, Apr. 2012

GAME, the supermarket giant in the UK has been saved by OpCapita. This was confirmed by Administrator PwC. 333 UK stores were open when GAME went under administration, and they will remain open after this acquisition.

“We are pleased to have reached agreement with the Administrator. We strongly believe there is a place on the high street for a video gaming specialist and GAME is the leading brand in a £2.8 billion market in the UK,” said OpCapita managing partner Henry Jackson.

“We have assembled a strong team of experienced industry operators to implement the programme of operational change that is needed. There is a huge amount to do but we look forward to the challenge of restoring GAME’s fortunes in partnership with its employees and suppliers.”

What this means is GAME is saved and will continue to do business as before, and we won’t see them evaporate into nothing.
