Ouya Gaming Console Enters Development, Available For Pre-Order

The $99 gaming console enters development. Expected to hit April 2013.

Remember the $99 gaming console that can play Android games? Ouya has now moved out of design phase and entered development stage and is expected to land in consumers’ hands next year.

“We’re still going full-steam ahead. We’ve been refining OUYA’s hardware design (cosmetics, mechanicals, electricals, thermals etc.). We’ve spent most of this time in the design phase, as getting it right up front saves us a lot of redesign and iteration later. We’ve had some of the best engineers and designers take a look at every design element and fine tune it. Our CAD models and SLAs (plastic prototypes that provide us with a physical look and feel of the product) are finished, and we moved out of the design phase and into development a couple of weeks ago,” said Ouya CEO Julie Uhrman.

You can also pre-order Ouya over here for $99. An additional controller will cost you $30. The console is expected to release in April 2013.
