In the wake of the controversial development, release, and take down of The Day Before, upcoming survival game Palworld has an interesting note in its FAQ section, where developer Pocketpair is insistent that the game is not a scam.

“It is not a scam and will definitely be released on January 19th,” says the studio in an FAQ posted to the game’s Steam page. “Palworld is a typical Steam game, you buy it once and it is yours forever. While we may consider expansions after the full release, that is a conversation we will all have together, as a community, when the time comes!”

This notable addition to the FAQ likely comes because of the controversial life cycle of The Day Before, which was originally promised as a vast open-world MMORPG before being released as an incredibly sub-par zombie-based extraction shooter. The Day Before has since been taken down from Steam, with its servers slated to be shut down later this month.

Palworld, on the other hand, is coming to PC as an early access title on January 19. For more details on Palworld, check out our Early Access review. It is also worth noting that the game will not feature PvP or crossplay at launch.
