GamingBolt recently got in touch with PlanetSide 2’s lead designer Luke Sigmund and asked him about his thoughts on the PS4 and whether the game will be a true estimation of what the console is capable of graphically.

“Yeah, I think we’re really pushing it. The game looks fantastic, we have no problems running it. What you’re seeing here is our Ultra settings on the PC. This is as good as the game can look for us. We’ve put a-lot of work into our shaders to transition them over from the PC to the PS4 and we think it came out looking fantastic,” he said.

And what kind of modifications have they done to the Forgelight engine to support the PS4 version? “Mostly it’s been multi-threading support. Forgelight didn’t have a ton of that at first, so it was kind of an issue with the AMD processors. Now that we’ve added more of that support it’s running better on PC and it runs great on the PS4.”

PlanetSide 2 is due this year for the PlayStation 4. Stay tuned for more news and updates.
