Platinum Games’ Hideki Kamiya Discusses Plans For His Next Game

We are all waiting for the game with bated breaths.

Hideki Kamiya of Platinum Games is a legendary game designer- over the years, some of the games that he has worked on include Resident Evil 2, Devil May Cry, Viewtiful Joe, Okami, Bayonetta, The Wonderful 101, and the canceled Scalebound. In other words, he is one of the greats of game development- so of course, everyone is interested in seeing what he may be working on next, in the wake of the high profile cancellation of Scalebound.

In an interview with IGN, Kamiya revealed that his next game, unlike the ambitious Scalebound, will carry all of his signature hallmarks, meaning high octane action gameplay, and a sense of style and flair. “More than anything. I want to make something that really waves the Kamiya banner proudly. A game where you will know instantly that it came from me,” he said.

He went on to note that he had only just recently pitched an idea to Platinum- meaning it may be a while before we get to see this game from him. However, given the pedigree of his output so far, I think there is little doubt that whatever he ends up working on next will be well worth the wait.
