The mania surrounding PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is pretty well known at this point, and it’s not unfounded either. Battlegrounds is, by all means, an excellent game, but now it seems like some people are willing to go overboard with their spending, even if they are massive fans of the game. Cosmetic loot boxes for the game recently went on sale, and now Battlegrounds cosmetics are being sold at ridiculous prices on Steam Marketplace.
For instance, an in-game tuxedo jacket is being sold for $77, while PlayerUnknown’s own bandana and trench coat are being sold at lower but still ridiculous prices of $400 and $300. What makes this even more ridiculous is that these are just cosmetic items. These are going to have absolutely no impact on how you play the game. This isn’t something completely unheard of, of course, and people have been known to spend obscene amounts of money on seeminly insignificant in-game items for several games, but no matter how many times you see something like this, you can’t get used to it. It’s literally throwing money away.
