For as long as they’ve been around, new mainline Pokemon titles have been guaranteed sellers, so there was never any doubt in anyone’s minds that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, which launched a couple of days ago, would also sell gangbusters, especially given how well the series has consistently sold on the Nintendo Switch.

While Nintendo and The Pokemon Company yet to reveal concrete launch sales numbers for the RPG duo, we do know that where pre-order numbers are concerned, they’re off to a predictably solid start. As reported by Oricon, at a recent event celebrating their launch, The Pokemon Company CEO Takahito Utsunomiya revealed that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet saw the highest ever pre-order sales for any Pokemon game to date.

That should give a pretty good indication of what sort of sales we’re looking at for the new titles. Most likely, Nintendo will be revealing the game’s launch sales figures soon, so stay tuned for that.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available now on Nintendo Switch.
