Fans of Pokemon, this is a big year for you- it’s the 20th anniversary of the franchise, and there’s a cross media deluge of old and new content. For TCG fans, that means a new expansion- and one has indeed been announced. It is called Pokemon XY: Fates Collide, and among other things, it introduces Mega Alakazam-EX, Zygarde, Lugia BREAK, Mega Altaria-EX, and Umbreon-EX to the game.

The new expansion introduces over 120 new cards, five of which are going to be BREAK cards- BREAK is an all new mechanic that was recently introduced to the game, and it gets fleshed out further with this expansion. There will be 13 new Pokemon-EX introduced as well, including three new Mega Pokemon.

This new expansion is going to be made available on May 5 worldwide. Pokemon TCG remains one of the most popular card games in the world, behind only Wizards of the Coast’s Magic The Gathering.
