Pokemon: The Movie: Genesect and the Legend Awakened Coming October 19 to UK

Special animation event to promote Pokemon X and Pokemon Y headlined by the new Pokemon movie, followed by a sneak peak at the upcoming X and Y anime.

Pokemon X and Y are now a month away from release, and the final cogs in the mega marketing machine are falling into place. But as anyone who has ever followed this franchise before knows, the games’ release is only the beginning of a new media blitz, not the end. The games will be followed by a new anime, new movies, new trading cards, new toys, and a plethora of new merchandise.

And we can already see this happening, as CITV announced that it will be holding a special Pokemon animation event in UK to celebrate the release of the new 3DS exclusive Pokemon games. On October 19, 9.25am, CITV Movie Club will air the new Pokemon movie, Pokemon: Genesect and the Legend Awakened; this will be followed by a sneak peak of the first two episodes of the upcoming season of the anime, which features the locations and Pokemon from Pokemon X and Pokemon Y.

As the press release eagerly reminds us, however, this is not all. Fans will also be able to battle with Red Genesect when the Pokémon TCG: Red Genesect Collection arrives at retail stores throughout the UK on September 25th. This new Pokémon TCG collection includes a Red Genesect theme deck, a limited edition collector’s pin, and more. So, yes. Merchandise, and stuff.

Pokemon X and Pokemon Y release worldwide on October 12 at midnight. They will be the first titles in the series to get a simultaneous international release, as well as the first titles in the series to be made available at retail as well as digitally, over Nintendo’s eShop storefront. The games will be available exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS line of systems, which includes the 3DS XL and the Nintendo 2DS.
