During the recent Nintendo Direct, Level-5 unveiled a new game in the Professor Layton franchise for the Switch. Titled Professor Layton and the New World of Steam, the game got a short trailer that you can check out below. As has traditionally been the case for the franchise, Professor Layton and the New World of Steam will be exclusive to the Nintendo’s platform.
While no gameplay for Professor Layton and the New World of Steam was revealed, it’s safe to assume that the new release will follow similar puzzle-solving gameplay as its predecessors.
Traditionally, games in the Professor Layton franchise revolve around intricate mysteries that the titular professor goes about solving. When it comes to gameplay, players are tasked with finding hidden clues and evidence, and along the way, solve logic-based puzzles to progress the story.
The Professor Layton franchise saw its last release back in 2017 in the form of Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires’ Conspiracy. Back in 2018, Professor Layton and the Curious Village also saw a re-release for iOS and Android devices.
