PS4 and Xbox 720 to launch in 2013? Next-gen projects straining Sony

"Next year is probably the right time for new consoles."

Wii U is slated to come this year, and we know for a fact that Microsoft and Sony won’t give them two holidays uncontested, as it could really help Nintendo cement its position as a leader next-gen.

It’s common logic that their consoles could be revealed next year and probably also released the same year too. We have an update from Matt Edmunds, COO of Stainless Games, who told Trusted Reviews that, he expects the next gen consoles to launch next year.

He emphasised on the importance of 2013 release by saying, “Next year is probably the right time for new consoles.”

Sony is currently having some problems trying to divert resources to all three systems, including the one in development right now. “We do have a challenge to manage [the next generation of consoles], particularly in terms of dev studio resources,” said PlayStation UK managing director Fergal Gara told CVG.

Vita isn’t doing all that well, so a major push for that is required too, and they cannot ignore the home console as it is the one that brings a lot of revenue. They’re in a weird spot right now and releasing the Vita might not have been the right decision after all for them. Good for consumers though, as it is a kickass piece of hardware.
