PS4 Has Now Sold 6 Million Units In Japan

A significant milestone for Sony's console.

Posted By | On 17th, Jan. 2018

The PS4 is performing far weaker in Japan than in any other country in the world, but it’s still managed to do reasonably well for itself in the land of the rising sun, all things considered. For instance, with the newest Media Create report, we now know that the system has crossed 6 million units of sales in the country.

It’s a good number, especially given the weaker Japanese console market, the stranglehold Nintendo has on there, and the PS4’s limp launch in the country. What remains to be seen is how well the PS4 will manage to maintain its momentum, now that the Switch has caught on there- while Monster Hunter World should ensure that it tops charts in the short term, its longer term prospects in Japan are more open.

Regardless, Sony has managed to turn the PS4 around, and garner some great Japanese support for the console in spite of all these factors- that is truly commendable/
