As more new information has started emerging about both the PS5 and the Xbox Series X, more developers in the industry have started to come forward to talk about both consoles and the tech that powers them. It’s clear that both consoles have unique advantages over each other in different areas, and one area where the Xbox Series X has come out on top is pure raw power, with a 12 TFLOPS GPU as compared to the PS5’s 10.3 TFLOPS.
There have been plenty of discussions about whether or not the higher numbers on paper will translate to a more powerful console for Microsoft (Microsoft certainly feel quite confident). One developer who thinks the gap won’t end up making too much of a difference – especially for their own games – is Ozan Drøsdal, creative lead at Perfectly Paranormal, developers of the upcoming narrative adventure title Helheim Hassle.
“We really don’t,” Drøsdal said to GamingBolt when asked if he feels the gap between the two consoles’ clock speeds will end up making much of a difference. “Both consoles seem very powerful and way beyond the capabilities needed for anything we will be making for the foreseeable future!”
Meanwhile, Drøsdal also spoke about the PS5’s custom 3D audio engine, Tempest, suggesting that he was impressed with it. “3D sound is cool so we’re sure it will be awesome when we play games that make use of it,” he said.
In the same interview, he also spoke to us about the PS5 and Xbox Series X’s respective approaches to backward compatibility. You can read more on that through here.
Perfectly Paranormal’s Helheim Hassle is currently in development for the Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
