Rayman Legends On Nintendo Switch Will Have Touch Screen Controls In Portable Mode

So touch screen usage is clearly allowed in games.

Rayman Legends will be supporting touch screen controls in portable mode, Ubisoft revealed on the game’s official website [via Nintendo Life], laying to rest the speculation that many believed (including yours truly) that the touch screen on the Switch would be used more for UI and navigation than for games.

According to the website, players can expect to use the touch screen to take out enemies, manipulate platforms, cut ropes to clear a path and much more.” The touch screen is not the only alternative control scheme that will be supported, as Ubisoft revealed the game will support gyroscopic controls, too. Which, for a precision platformer, honestly sounds like a bit of a nightmare.

But hey, touch screen controls are fine. As long as they don’t get intrusive and forced upon the player, which they by design cannot on Switch, since the entire game has to be playable in console mode, and hence without touch. The Nintendo Switch launches worldwide on March 3.
