The latest installment in Activision’s blockbuster Call of Duty series, Call of Duty: Ghosts, was announced for Xbox One and Playstation 4, but it was never announced for Nintendo’s Wii U. While a lot of third parties have been jumping ship on the Wii U lately, Call of Duty’s absence was baffling, notably because every single title in the series has been on the Wii and Wii U, and they have done reasonably well. This prompted speculation as to whether the performance of last year’s Black Ops II was really so abysmal on the console that it caused even a port that was as potentially easy money as this to skip the console this time around.

Well, if Gamespot is to be believed, it is in fact coming to the Wii U later this year. In an interview, executive producer Mark Rubin was asked what platforms Ghosts will be available on and when it will release, to which he responded: “Right now we’ve only announced current-gen and PC, which will release on Novevember 5th. Wii U is probably in the next-gen bin. We’re not actually talking about Wii U yet because we want to keep it mysterious.”

While that reasoning is asinine, it makes sense- every single Nintendo version of a Call of Duty game till date has been announced later than all its counterparts. Call of Duty: Ghosts launches later this year. We’ll keep you posted on this as it develops, so stay tuned.
