Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City Confirmed

Posted By | On 25th, Mar. 2011

The long rumored Resident Evil team-based shooter ‘Operation Raccoon City’ has finally been confirmed by the Official Xbox Magazine US. The game will allow up to four players to take the role of USS soldiers cleaning up evidence, zombies and survivors, of the Raccoon city outbreak, the very catastrophe on which Resident Evil 2 is based.  It will feature three rival factions; the player(s) as the USS, the US Spec Ops who are there to repel the USS and Umbrella Corporation’s “bio-organic weapon monsters.” The USS will have four different characters to choose from, each with their own responsibilities within the unit.

Interestingly, according to OXM US, the game allows the player to “change the history of Resident Evil;” Not only will you interact with characters from previous games, you can also kill them. This includes Resi 2’s Leon Kennedy, who would otherwise go on to be a rather integral part of Resi 4.

The game is planned for release this winter on both PS3 and Xbox 360.
