A resume as discovered by internet sleuth, Supererogatory has revealed that Darkspore might be getting a console release very soon.
The resume of Jordan Patz, a level designer reveals that he has worked on the console port for the game for PS3 and Xbox 360.

Wrote documentation on changes to level layout, controls, abilities, balance, pacing and new tool creation.o
Used in-house tools to modify abilities, effects, animations and level scripting.
This strongly suggests that Maxis and EA are planning a console release for the game soon.
