Retailers Offering Heavy Discounts on Xbox One Purchases with Red Dead Redemption 2

Microsoft trying to get in on that Red Dead wave.

The official marketing deal for Red Dead Redemption 2 rests with Sony, meaning that bundles with the game are exclusive to PlayStation 4. However, that’s not stopping Microsoft from trying to sell their console on the back of the eagerly anticipated upcoming Rockstar epic, anyway.

Multiple retailers in the US, including Best Buy, Fry’s (confirmed in their store ads), and GameStop (confirmed via email offers), are offering players a very tempting proposition: buy Red Dead Redemption 2, and you get $100 off of any new Xbox console. Microsoft is no doubt hoping to snare some new purchasers into picking up the Xbox with this deal, and depending on just how retailers have been trained, there’s a possibility that new buyers could be told all about how the Xbox One X, the most powerful console in the world, will actually have the best version of the game, graphically speaking…

Whether or not this actually has an impact on Xbox sales remains to be seen—Sony, of course, will see a big boost to PS4 sales thanks to the PS4 Pro bundle, I would wager. Red Dead Redemption 2 launches for PS4 and Xbox One on October 26.
