In a major win for the Independent Workers Union of Great Britain, a UK-based employment tribunal has ruled that it can bring in its allegations of blacklisting employees against Rockstar Games in the controversial case that started in November last year, per WCC Tech.
In case the news slipped past you, Rockstar was accused of discriminating against employees who were suspected of attempting to form a union, in an event that had resulted in the firing of 34 employees. The company has previously faced allegations of attempting to stonewall legal proceedings, while the IWGB failed to secure interim pay for workers who had been let go earlier this year.
It’s quite the rollercoaster, and not a very enjoyable one for everybody involved. However, the IWGB is quite happy with the latest ruling, seeing it as a way to bring Rockstar’s alleged shady practices into the light for all to see. The trial is set off September 10, 2026, and will proceed all the way until October 15. While we don’t expect this to interfere with the release of GTA 6 just yet, it’s going to be an interesting time for the studio behind it, and one that its disgruntled former workers are sure to follow with bated breath.
We’re not picking sides until things are conclusively proven, though, and we hope that things are resolved in ways that benefit all the parties involved.
