Development

The development process of RollerCoaster Tycoon 4 has been somewhat guarded with little to no information being made available. What we do know is that Scottish computer game developer, designer and programmer Chris Sawyer (RollerCoaster Tycoon, RollerCoaster Tycoon 2) who is best known for his Tycoon series work will not be returning to the series to help Atari with RollerCoaster Tycoon 4.

This video is for representation purpose.

Speaking to PocketTatics, Chris Sawyer has said, “I have no involvement with the creation of Atari’s newly announced RCT games.”, this is despite a claim from Atari saying that Mr. Sawyer was, “part of the production team”. Fans of the series confessed concerns that RollerCoaster Tycoon 4 would share the same flaws as it’s mobile counter part, Atari’s damage control has clarified that the game will be markedly different from the iOS and Android version. Speaking to Digital Spy, Atari Senior Director of Marketing Anthony Chien said, “We can’t share that much, but [PC] will definitely be a completely different game,” he said, inadvertently confirming the PC sequel.

“There’s a lot of diehard RC fans that want a PC experience, they want all different sorts of things. It’s trying to deliver as much as we can. First is the mobile version, then it’s the PC experience,” he said.

“I think a lot of people are vocal about wanting to see the PC version first before the mobile, but our strategy is mobile first.”

Gameplay

While no gameplay of RollerCoaster Tycoon 4 has been revealed to the media or public yet, it’s highly unlikely that developers Atari have changed the established gameplay mechanics that have made the series popular. While this is primarily supposition, it’s with a relative degree of certainty that these are returning features.

The player will be tasked with the control of a theme park in a fictional world that they must maintain and manage. This is accomplished by managing the parks various attractions which will in turn draw more visitors and guests to the park, thus raising your score and generating more revenue.

Infrastructure is also left to the command of players, tasking them with creating the paths to the various rides and attractions as well as providing services such as restrooms and trash disposal. Players must also create stores and food vendors to appease the swelling crowds and conversely deal with any vomit induced by the rides and foods provided, meaning that staff management is also essential in maintaining a safe and pleasant environment for the guests.

Note: This wiki will be updated once we have more information about the game.
