RUMOUR: 3DS Tag Mode is Called CrossPass

Posted By | On 30th, Jul. 2010

Well, this is certainly interesting.

CVG reports that the always on, Wi fi enabled Tag Mode in the Nintendo 3DS may be called CrossPass. At least, if a recent spree of trademark registrations by Nintendo is anything to go by.

The video games giant has registered  CrossPass, CrossPass Mode, CrossPass Network, and CrossPass Connection, all of which sound a lot like the official name for the new handheld’s innovative data-swapping ability. On the other hand, they could also be referring to an overall online service. The 3DS, if you remember, is supposed to boast of an improved online interface that mimics what Microsoft has done with Xbox LIVE.

We still don’t have anything by way of an official announcement, or even notification. But we’ll keep you posted. Watch this space.
